
The toaster is having a renaissance with a third of Brits crowning toasted sandwiches their ultimate comfort food.
The humble kitchen appliance, recently overshadowed by trendy air fryers and multi-cookers, is back in the spotlight after 31% of Brits revealed toasties were their feel-good food.
Data released by Ginsters reveals that Brits are facing a wave of appliance anxiety. Consumers admit they find modern kitchen appliances difficult to clean, confusing to use and too bulky for their kitchen tops. In response, nearly a third (28%) say they now actively prefer simpler kitchen appliances as they crave fuss-free lunch times.
The survey of 2,000 UK adults highlights a growing frustration with kitchen gadget overload. One fifth (22%) of Brits own a kitchen appliance they haven't used in over 12 months, and more than one in ten (13%) own one they've never used.
Of those quizzed, 14% say other rooms in their home are now taken over by kitchen appliance overflow as they've run out of space for all their gadgets.
The average number of appliances people have on their kitchen counter, while 17% have five or more.
The research proves the toaster is no longer seen as a relic of the past and is now proudly reclaiming its rightful place on the countertop.
Driven by a demand for speed and simplicity, more than a third (35%) of those surveyed say they use their toaster more frequently now than they did a year ago.
The toaster remains one of the UK's most popular and reliable pieces of tech with 81% of Brits owning one and pushing down the level an average of four times a week.
The research data also exposes a lunchtime crisis across the UK, fuelled by time-consuming preparation.
A third (33%) of Brits say needing something quick describes their typical weekday lunch, while as many as one in five (20%) admit to skipping the meal entirely.
Clean-up was voted the single biggest frustration of lunchtime prep by a wide margin. A quarter of the nation say they simply don't have the time to prep, with 60% admitting they usually have less than 10 minutes to make lunch when working or relaxing at home.
