Danny Miller is a beloved fixture on Emmerdale in his role as Aaron Dingle - and it transpires his father is equally a recognisable figure in entertainment. The actor rose to prominence when he joined the ITV soap as Aaron back in 2008. And it wasn't long before he established himself as one of the programme's most cherished characters. Danny has also been at the centre of numerous major storylines in the Yorkshire Dales portraying Aaron - from illicit affairs and his relationship with Robert Sugden (played by Ryan Hawley) to devastating murder and imprisonment.

Currently in the soap, Aaron has recently made his way back to the village to see Robert, only to discover a new houseguest: Serena Sugden (Casey Al-Shaqsy). Nevertheless, Aaron has since voiced his concerns about Serena and cautioned Robert against becoming too involved with her. Yet it appears actor Danny isn't the sole performer in his family. His cherished father, Vince Miller, 90, also forged a career in the showbusiness and entertainment industry, reports the Mirror.

Dubbed the 'king of comperes', Vince served as the VIP host at Manchester United for nearly three decades. He also spent 29 years at Old Trafford and frequently interviewed footballing icon, Sir Alex Ferguson.

No stranger to mingling with celebrated personalities throughout his 65-year career, Vince has also collaborated with Johnny Mathis and Shirley Bassey and even delivered a speech at comedian Bernard Manning's funeral. At the age of 82, Vince announced he would be stepping away from the world of showbiz and entertainment for good. He told the Manchester Evening News: "I've no upset about it, the time is now to get out while you're on top, you don't want people saying 'not him again'!"

To mark the occasion, son Danny organised a charity event in his father's honour, praising him as the "best in the business". Taking to the stage, Vince declared: "I've had a great career, I've done it all as a presenter, comedian, singer, I've been very fortunate. As Edith Piaf said, Je ne regrette rien, no regrets!".

Vince has also previously spoken with great pride about Danny after watching his son follow in his footsteps and forge his own career in entertainment. He said: "He's doing so very well and he's done it all himself – so now he's up there. I'm so proud." Tragically, in 2025, Vince received a dementia diagnosis, and since then Danny has been remarkably candid about the realities of supporting a loved one through the condition, sharing both the difficult and tender moments the illness brings.

During an appearance on Good Morning Britain earlier this year, he gave an emotional update on Vince, who now resides in a care home in Manchester. He said: "It's sad, and, you know, me and my dad were thick as thieves at one point, and, you know, losing him over and over again is awful."

Providing an update on his father's present condition, Danny continued: "There's good days and bad days. There was a time last week where I didn't know if I'd be sat here because he's up and down with his general health anyway, but dementia always makes it feel somewhat worse. There's urine infections that suddenly make them more confused, and then his health declined, he looked ill."
