EasyJet has confirmed an early check-in rule for passengers with early morning flights that allows them to check-in and drop bags off the night before at nine UK airports.
The budget airline provides a twilight service that allows passengers to beat the rush at airport check-in desks by dropping off their hold bags the evening before their flight, bypassing long queues on departure day. It means that on the day of travel passengers have peace of mind that they’ve already checked in and dropped their luggage, and they can head straight to security. The service can be used free of charge during specified hours across nine major UK airports, although parking charges are down to the local airport’s rules.
EasyJet’s twilight check-in is only available to passengers with early morning flights departing from one of nine UK airports.
The service was expanded in January this year to include Birmingham Airport for all passengers on early morning flights departing before 9am, with the bag drop available between 4pm and 8pm the day before.
Customers will also receive discounted parking for an hour in the airport’s Premium Set Down car park by presenting their bag drop baggage receipt when they exit.
Announcing the new launch at the time, Kevin Doyle, easyJet’s UK Country Manager, said: “We are always looking for new ways to make travel as easy as possible, so we are really pleased to be introducing our free Twilight Bag Drop service for our customers flying from Birmingham Airport.
“As families head off on their next holiday or are planning one to look forward to, whether that’s hitting the slopes, soaking up some winter sun or a fun-filled half-term or Easter break, we remain focused on offering greater choice and exceptional value across our unrivalled short-haul network, always aiming to make travel easy.”
To use easyJet’s twilight service, passengers with eligible morning flights simply need to visit the airline’s Bag Drop area during the specified hours at their departure airport the night before.
Passengers need to check-in online, or via the easyJet mobile app, before arriving at the airport, and must bring along their passport and boarding passes.
The airline will also allow passengers to drop bags off on behalf of someone on the same booking and bags will be stored safely overnight in a restricted zone in the airport.
EasyJet said: "The evening before your flight, take your bags to the airport and drop them at the easyJet Bag Drop area. Don’t forget to bring your boarding passes and passports. Then when it’s time to fly, simply breeze through the airport - feeling fresh and ready for your flight."
