The King welcomed Meghan and Harry’s children to his Highgrove residence after days of speculation over whether the family meeting would take place. A royal source is reported to have told journalist, Rob Shuter, as quoted by Sky News Australia: "This wasn’t a surrender - it was a grandfather wanting to see his grandchildren. People are confusing compassion with capitulation." The source added that if Buckingham Palace had wanted the world to see the meeting as a reconciliation, then there would have been a photo of the occasion. They added: "The fact that there wasn’t tells you everything you need to know. The institution didn’t blink. Charles acted as a father and a grandfather, not as the head of the monarchy negotiating terms." Royal fans were urged not to "believe the hype" surrounding the royal reunion.
