Donald Trump claimed the ceasefire with Iran is over, while announcing the US has agreed to Iran's alleged request to continue talks. It comes after the United States and Iran exchanged fresh military strikes two days ago, marking a sharp escalation in tensions.
The US President issued a statement on TruthSocial which stated: "The Islamic Republic of Iran has asked us to continue “talks.” We have agreed to do so, but the United States has stated to them, in no uncertain terms, that the Cease Fire is OVER! Thank you for your attention to this matter. President DONALD J. TRUMP."
The US military launched a series of what it described as “powerful” attacks on targets in southern Iran around on July 7, claiming the operation was in retaliation for an attack on three tankers in the Strait of Hormuz the previous day.
In response, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps vowed a “crushing” retaliation and announced that it had struck 85 US military sites in Bahrain and Kuwait, while denouncing the American attacks as a violation of the ceasefire.
