Prince Harry has arrived in the UK after a chaotic back-and-forth between his spokesperson and Buckingham Palace over where the Duke will stay. The 41-year-old was previously going to be joined by his wife, Meghan Markle, and their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, however, after security fears, they have not joined him.

It was previously reported that Harry had accepted the King's offer for him to stay at Buckingham Palace, but this offer was later "withdrawn", with reports suggesting that he replied too late. As a result of the late response, arrangements cannot be made.

Harry is scheduled to appear at the one-year countdown event for the 2027 Invictus Games this Friday.

The event, which takes place exactly one year before the Games next summer, will be held in Birmingham. Meghan has previously appeared at many Invictus Games events, including the one-year countdown event in Canada in 2024.

After reports that Buckingham Palace had "withdrawn" his offer to stay at the London-based residence, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's spokesperson said: "I am aware of multiple briefings from Buckingham Palace last week suggesting that the Duke had not accepted the offer of accommodation at a Royal Residence.

"Following RAVEC’s decision not to provide security for his family, the Duke spent last week making alternative security arrangements. Once those arrangements were in place, he was able to formally accept the offer of accommodation for himself over the weekend.

"It is therefore disappointing that the offer has now been withdrawn, with Tuesday’s judgment in the Associated Newspapers Limited case cited as the reason.

"Buckingham Palace has, however, been aware of that judgment since last Thursday. It is therefore unclear why, having formally accepted the accommodation offer, it has now been withdrawn at the last moment."

It was reported last week that the Royal and VIP Executive Committee (RAVEC) rejected an application for taxpayer-funded, armed police protection during the London leg of the Sussexes' stay.

Much like Meghan, Archie and Lilibet have not travelled to the UK since 2022 due to safety fears. It now remains unclear where Harry will be staying during his visit this week.
