The past week has seen several June temperature records shattered as a historic heatwave swept across large parts of the UK. While temperatures are expected to return to near-seasonal levels next week the relief may be brief, as forecasts suggest a blistering 41C heatwave could soon sweep across the nation.

June's record temperature was broken again on Friday, with Santon Downham, Suffolk reaching 37.3C, surpassing the high of 37.1C measured in Cavendish, Suffolk earlier that afternoon. If WXCHARTS weather maps ring true then the country will soon swelter under extreme heat as we could be set for the hottest day ever in just a matter of weeks.The highest temperature ever recorded in the UK is 40.3C (104.5F), reached on 19 July 2022 at Coningsby in Lincolnshire.

WXCHARTS weather maps have turned a blistering red for July 9. The south of the country will see the brunt of the scorching with 37C likely. The south-west and western parts of the country will see the mercury hover between 35C-36C.

The midlands will also see temperatures hit 36C. Devon and Cornwall will be ever so slightly cooler with highs of 33C forecast whilst Cardiff will be a degree cooler.

Northern England and Scotland will miss out on the blistering weather with the Highlands only expected to temperatures hit 18C.

Fast forward to July 10 and weather maps have turned an even deeper shade of red. Staggering highs of 40C could come in western and southern England.

Forecasts indicate highs of 37C to 39C across central and southern England, with the potential for the warmest day ever recorded.

And the temperatures will continue to rise from there as temperatures could hit an astonishing 41C in western England, whilst large swathes of the country from Yorkshire all the way down to London could hit 40C.

In Wales, the north of the country will see the warmest temperatures of around 37C. The north-east will see slightly cooler temperatures of around 32C whilst Scotland will see highs of 28C.
