Passengers travelling in and out of Manchester today are facing travel chaos with large delays affecting the network after a person was tragically hit by a train. National Rail says there is major disruption between Stoke-on-Trent and Macclesfield/Crewe.
Disruption is expected to last until 7.30pm this evening. It is impacting East Midlands Railway (EMR), Avanti West Coast and CrossCountry services including those to Manchester Piccadilly
A CrossCountry spokesperson said: "Due to the emergency services dealing with an incident between Stafford and Stockport some lines are blocked. Train services running through these stations may be cancelled, delayed by up to 30 minutes or diverted."
