A huge fire has engulfed several vehicles on the M1, sparking the closure of a section of the busy UK motorway. All lanes northbound between J19 (Catthorpe Interchange) and J20 (Lutterworth) are closed as emergency services tackle a car transporter fire which has engulfed several vehicles.
Drivers approaching the incident on the northbound stretch of the motorway are being faced with heavy traffic. Drivers are being warned there is no access to the M1 northbound from the A14. National Highways East Midlands wrote on X: "All lanes of the #M1 northbound between J19 (#CatthorpeInterchange) and J20 (#Lutterworth) are closed because of a vehicle fire. Emergency services are on scene. There is no access to the M1 northbound from the #A14. Delays of up to 15 minutes on approach."
