Major fashion retailer Quiz will close 16 high street shops by the end of June following its collapse into administration. All 37 remaining locations are being shuttered this month, with shops in Belfast, Carlisle and Leeds already having had their last day of trading.

The Irvine branch is due to close tomorrow, with Portsmouth and Castleford set to follow on June 20 and Leicester expected to close by end of next week. Most items are now being sold for less than £10, with shopfronts featuring large “everything must go” signs. The fashion retailer, which first launched in 1993, fell into admistration on February 5 for the second time in less than 12 months.

More than 100 head office and warehouse jobs were expected to be impacted when the company collapsed, though the official number remains unknown.

All products are now being sold as seen and returns can only be accepted on the grounds that the goods are faulty. Plus, gift cards and credit notes are no longer valid.

Remaining shops earmarked for closure by the end of June include Sheffield, Derby, and Manchester’s Trafford and Arndale Centres.

Quiz concessions in New Look and Matalan stores in the UK have not been included in the administration and will remain open.
