The dust has barely settled on the Outlander series finale after the curtain fell on Jamie (played by Sam Heughan) and Claire Fraser's (Caitríona Balfe) sweeping love story, reports the Daily Record.
Yet Starz and MGM+ have now dropped the trailer for the upcoming season of Outlander: Blood of My Blood alongside a crucial release date.
Season two of the prequel to Diana Gabaldon's beloved series will arrive on British screens via MGM+ on Prime Video on Saturday, 19th September.
The fresh episodes will continue directly from where the first instalment left off, with both couples confronting significant new dangers.
When audiences last encountered Henry (Jeremy Irvine) and Julia Beauchamp (Hermione Corfield), they were attempting to escape back to the future with their infant son William.
Viewers were left uncertain whether the pair successfully passed through the stones and returned to their own era.
Meanwhile, Brian Fraser (Jamie Roy) and Ellen MacKenzie (Harriet Slater) had wed after she escaped from Castle Leoch and took refuge in a bothy with her beloved.
However, Brian was forced to answer the Highland call to arms as the Jacobite Uprising of 1715 commenced, or face execution for refusing to fight alongside his clan.
A brief synopsis has also been unveiled, stating: "As Season Two unfolds, the two young couples will be tested and separated once again by forces beyond their control, as every clan chooses a side in the rebellion."
Alongside the four principal stars, season two of Outlander: Blood of My Blood sees the return of Tony Curran as Simon Fraser, Lord Lovat, Séamus McLean Ross as Colum MacKenzie, Sam Retford as Dougal MacKenzie, Rory Alexander as Murtagh Fitzgibbons Fraser, and Conor MacNeill as Ned Gowan.
A brief teaser has also been unveiled, though it remained ambiguous as to whether Henry and Julia successfully returned to the future with baby William.
The trailer suggested that Henry managed to make it through, while Julia and William appeared to have been left stranded in the past.
In voiceover, Henry said: "I wake every morning knowing that something is missing."
There's a glimpse of their young daughter Claire standing beside a sink, followed by Julia with William.
The footage then cuts to Brian and Ellen, who found themselves in anguish as she observed: "War is brutal and unfair."
Both were acutely conscious of what lay ahead for Brian, making it an agonising moment for the pair.
Numerous Outlander devotees flocked to the comments beneath the trailer on Instagram to express their enthusiasm.
One viewer posted: "Nothing could have prepared us for what a gift this series has been. I am so excited for S2!"
Another wrote: "I AM SO READY TO GET BACK INTO THE WORLD OF OUTLANDER!!!!"
A third commented: "Such a serotonin booster to go on with this week ! Can we be in September already ! So excited to see them on screen again."
Yet another added: "CHILLLSSSS!!! Without them, we have been adrift.
"There is no better way to celebrate World Outlander Day without an unseen look into BOB S2!!! [sic]."
