Music icon Boy George has called out politicians who are "hating" the world in a fiery rant. On Friday (May 29), the eighties pop icon attended the 2026 British LGBT Awards, where he picked up the Best Music Artist and a Lifetime Achievement Award. In an interview with The Mirror, he shared his thoughts on the recent surge in support for ReformUK across the country.

The Culture Club hitmaker, 64, told the outlet: "In politics and pop, you get what you deserve. I want to live in a world where politicians do not care what I say about them. Get on with your job. If you're replying to someone who's famous, you're not concentrating on what's really important, which is the country."

He went on: "You can go around saying this, 'I hate this, I hate that'. But then, in your real life, if you're not doing anything to make the world better, how are you just anything but noise? You're just another person repeating what you're hearing on the internet, and it's very dangerous."

Although the entry was knocked out in the first semi-final earlier this year, he admitted he enjoyed the experience and would love to do it again, but this time to represent his home turf. Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk, he highlighted the fact that it is a song contest while pitching himself to pen a track.

He told us: "I had a fantastic time [in Vienna]. Absolutely gorgeous. I would like to write the Eurovision entry for the UK - that's what I'd love to do, and I think that is what I should do, but don't tell anyone I said that, " he chuckled.

"It was beautiful, though. It was a really beautiful experience, but it is a song contest. It is called the Eurovision Song Contest, so find the song first and then find the singer." Prior to the contest, George had exclusively revealed to this title that he initially thought he was entering for the UK.

His management was approached by Senhit, and he recalled: "First of all, I thought it was going to be for the UK and I thought, 'Oh, that's strange'. Then, when he said it was San Marino, I was like, 'Is that allowed?' So I did a little bit of ChatGPT to find out, and apparently, it is. I like that, think for me, it's great to turn up where you're least expected."
