Live coverage of Donald Trump's visit to China was halted abruptly after a "medical emergency" occurred this evening.

The horrifying moment came during CBS' broadcast from Taiwan, as anchor Tony Dokoupil discussed the buildup to the Trump-Xi summit.

The incident happened on “CBS Evening News” as Dokoupil was presenting the final segment from Taipei. The camera began shaking while he continued speaking, before he stopped and asked: “Is he okay?”

“We are going to take a quick break. We have a medical emergency here,” Dokoupil said. “We are calling a doctor.”

Another person could be heard off camera asking someone to “call the doctor, please,” before correspondent Matt Gutman took over and sent the broadcast to a break.

“Tonight during the final segment of CBS Evening News, our cameraman on set suffered a medical emergency,” the show said in a statement on X. “Thankfully, he’s okay and recovering.”

CBS did not identify the camera operator or say what caused the medical emergency.

Trump is in Beijing for a high-stakes two-day visit and is set to meet his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping.

The US president's first official engagement today will be an arrival ceremony with Xi at Beijing's Great Hall of the People.

The two leaders will also hold talks before a state banquet scheduled for later this evening.

Tariffs, competition over tech, the Iran war and Taiwan are on the agenda for the two superpowers.

Trump is joined by tech bosses, including Tesla's Elon Musk and Nvidia's Jensen Huang - before his arrival he said he would ask China to "open up" to US industry.
