Tess Daly and Vernon Kay faced a major change to their family just months before they announced their split. The TV couple confirmed they had separated in a statement, penning: "After much consideration, and with a deep sense of care and respect for one another, we have made the decision to separate amicably. This has not been an easy choice, but it comes from a place of mutual understanding and a shared desire for what is best for both of us. We remain great friends and, most importantly, fully committed to our roles as loving and supportive parents, which will always be our priority.
"There are no other parties involved in this decision. We kindly ask for privacy during this time as we navigate this transition together. We will not be making any further public comments." Just a few months before the announcement, their daughter Phoebe had relocated to New York, as the 21-year-old revealed she had left England to begin a new chapter in America. She announced her major move on social media, posting a video of herself dancing in New York. The clip features the Empire State Building in the background, with the stunning skyline prominently displayed. Phoebe captioned her post: "NYC has my hearttt! Lucky to call it home for a while."
A further collection of photographs showcasing her new life in The Big Apple were captioned: "A little photo dump of living in NYC so far..."
Phoebe's relocation sees her following in her mother Tess' footsteps. During the 1990s, the former Strictly presenter, 56, made the same journey, spending five years living in NYC while working as a fashion model at the time.
She was accompanied at the beginning of her adventure by her parents, who both took to social media to express their pride. Tess posted images from her visit in February, writing: "I love NYC. Maximised every minute on a whirlwind half term trip and fell in love with this magical city all over again."
Meanwhile, reports suggested at the time that Vernon was eager to give the US another go. Vernon, 51, has previously confessed he was too "inexperienced" when he first attempted to crack the American market. Speaking to Annie MacManus on her podcast, Changes, in 2024, Vernon said: "Well, flippantly, I'd like another crack at America because I think I messed up. I did three network shows for America.
"I wouldn't say I messed that up. I think looking back, I was inexperienced. I think, knowing, being more confident in myself and the way I work, I'd like another go at a game show in America. That's a big change."
Alongside Phoebe, Tess and Vernon, who have been married for 22 years, are also parents to 16 year old daughter Amber.
