Euphoria has just introduced a brand-new character and viewers are eager to discover more about the actress portraying her, reports the Mirror.

HBO drama Euphoria continued to intensify this week, following its divisive premiere, after Rue (played by Zendaya) was compelled to become an informant for the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) after she was stopped and discovered to be in possession of drugs.

The DEA officers were attempting to get closer to Laurie's (Martha Kelly) drug operations and believed that former drug addict Rue was the ideal candidate to collect intelligence.

However, as Rue highlighted to the officers, Alamo (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje) had severed ties with Laurie after ordering her pet parakeet Paladin to be killed during their ongoing feud.

Nevertheless, Rue was dispatched back to her job at strip club the Silver Slipper and was attempting to remain composed while she was equipped with a special phone from the DEA, who were monitoring the situation.

While Rue was trying not to appear suspicious, the Silver Slipper introduced new dancer Kitty from Kansas, who was struggling to adapt to becoming a sex worker.

Rue approached Kitty and questioned whether she was being coerced by someone into this profession after witnessing the dancer distressed in the toilets.

Many are curious to learn more about the actress behind Kitty.

Kitty is portrayed by actress Anna Van Patten, who has previously appeared in The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox and Gossip Girl. She has also featured in the film Master, FBI: Most Wanted, Bussed, Law and Order: Special Victims Unit, and The Wisdom Tooth.

Nevertheless, Euphoria represents one of Van Patten's most substantial roles to date and according to IMDb, she is set to appear in four episodes during Season 3.

Van Patten turned to her Instagram account following Kitty's introduction in Euphoria to express her appreciation for being part of the series. She wrote: "Kitty Likes To Dance hard to express in words eternally grateful thank you Sam thank you everyone involved for trusting me with Kitty @euphoria @hbo."

The actress was raised in New York City and attended the Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School, according to US Weekly.

If Van Patten's surname seems familiar, it is because she is the younger sister of fellow actress Grace Van Patten, who is best recognised for Nine Perfect Strangers and Boardwalk Empire.

Meanwhile, her father is director and actor Timothy Van Patten, who has contributed to Boardwalk Empire and The Sopranos.
