Donald Trump was reportedly spotted closing his eyes while listening to an address by one of his Cabinet members during an event on Monday.

Kelly Loeffler, the SBA Administrator, delivered remarks alongside President Trump at a White House small-business summit on Monday to champion administration policies, outlining economic initiatives, including regulatory reforms and tax reductions aimed at supporting small businesses. However, as Loeffler reeled off various statistics, Trump appeared to take a brief nap, seeming to doze off while remaining upright.

An X user observed the president nodding off, posting the footage with a caption that reads: "OH MY GOD: Donald Trump falls fast asleep on his feet and only wakes up momentarily when he hears his name. Trump's brain is officially vanilla pudding."

In the clip, Trump is seen drifting off, though he's not fully asleep, as he remains standing. A person can doze briefly while upright, but cannot enter REM sleep, as their muscles would relax and they would topple over.

His eyes shut, then flicker slightly, and as the X user highlights, when he hears his name, he jolts back to attention. One user suggested he wasn't sleeping, that he was daydreaming, writing in the comments section: "I think he's picturing her naked in his mind." Another user questioned the practicalities of sleeping while standing: "Oh God, he's gonna do this one time and fall right on the floor." A third user appeared unconcerned by the president nodding off, suggesting it at least kept him quiet: "The ONLY time Trump isn't lying is when he falls asleep at public events.", reports the Irish Star.

Some leapt to his defence, arguing he was simply resting while remaining attentive: "It's a catnap. He was listening, Well ok he was daydreaming, but still." Back in March, the president was spotted dozing during an event in Memphis.

Trump appeared to nod off for a considerable stretch while on stage in Tennessee. Trump, the oldest president in United States history, had travelled to the Tennessee city to champion the crime task force his administration set up to combat what he claimed was widespread violent crime.

Yet, having boasted that there would soon be "like, no crime" in the city of approximately 650,000 people thanks to his intervention, Trump seemingly fell asleep. In one clip circulated on social media from the press conference, Trump can be seen dropping his head to one side while closing his eyes for at least 30 uninterrupted seconds.

"SLEEPY DON! SLEEPY DON! SLEEPY DON!" one X user wrote beneath the video clip, in an apparent nod to Trump's longstanding nickname for former President Joe Biden, whom he routinely mocks for his similarly advanced age. "Maybe it's time to send him off to the retirement community so he can rest!" another user suggested. "He had a long weekend of golfing and mocking the dead," a third user remarked, alluding to Trump's frequent trips to the golf course and his weekend comment that he was "glad" Robert Mueller was dead. The former FBI director led an inquiry during Trump's first term into Russian attempts to boost his presidential campaign through online disinformation.
