
Police have rushed to Liverpool city centre and closed a street after a substance was thrown at a man in what police believe is a "targetted attack". Emergency servcies rushed to the junction of Bold Street and Newington after receiving reports of a man and woman "squirting an unknown liquid towards a man".
The victim was rushed to hospital, and it was determined the liquid was a type of domestic cleaning product. Pictures from the scene show a police cordon in place on all of Newington, with emergency services vehicles nearby. Merseyside Police said: "We can confirm that officers are in Liverpool city centre after a substance was thrown at a man this afternoon, Wednesday 29 April. At around 1.55pm, emergency services were called to the junction of Bold Street and Newington to reports of a woman and a man, squirting an unknown liquid towards a man. Initial tests indicate that the liquid was some form of domestic cleaning product. The victim has been taken to hospital for assessment."
