Strictly Come Dancing star Craig Revel Horwood has shared that he is currently "living in a caravan". Beyond the sparkle and extravagance of the ballroom, Strictly's sharp-tongued "Mr Nasty" is refurbishing his historic £2million, seven-bedroom mansion in King's Cliffe, Northamptonshire - but that means he has had to take up a less luxurious home in the meantime.
Craig, who resides with his partner, Jonathan Myring, purchased the 1867 property in 2021 and began the pricey transformation shortly after. Six months ago, they were in the "demolition stage" and anticipated completion in August this year. In an interview at the time, Craig outlined how there was "no outdoor walls at all". The property had merely a roof and upper floor supported by poles. He explained how he was "living in a one-up, two-down" annex "basically the size of caravan".
The judge has now shared an update on his present accommodation circumstances. However, his temporary dwelling while the building work progresses remains "more modest" than his principal residence, according to the Mail's Richard Eden.
Craig told Richard: "I am living in a caravan at the moment. It's cheaper than storage," reports the Mirror.
Discussing the renovation with Country and Town House last year, Craig revealed that they had devised a strategy for the project after a year, and then "took another year" to obtain planning permission.
He said: "It's in the demolition stage and then the first bit will begin in a month. I think we're looking at August next year, which is alarming. I'm just glad something's happening." In September 2025, Craig gave fans a glimpse inside his home, posting photographs of the stripped-out interior and piles of rubble. Strictly's Neil Jones commented: "One Question, will my room have a bath tub?"
This followed Craig previously showing off the work carried out on his kitchen. In an Instagram post, he wrote: "After what feels like a lifetime, the renovations are finally underway. Fingers crossed our full house renovation is finished in a fortnight but it might take a smidge longer!"
Elsewhere, Craig recently revealed he would like to see a professional dancer step up as the new host of Strictly, following the departures of Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly.
Craig suggested the new hosts could be announced as early as "in one month". He initially put forward Simon Cowell and Amanda Holden, but admitted he didn't believe they would "get the job".
He told The Sun: "I love Johannes for the job. I think he would be the sweet one. I don't know how he would get on with me as he just laughs at me.
"I know they are trying people out at the moment. In fact, this week, and I am sure we will find out. I think it is going to be released in one month."
