But now Emmerdale actor Joshua Richards has opened up about his own famous wife. Joshua is best known for playing former wrestler Bear Wolf on the ITV programme, with his character currently on trial for the murder of human trafficker Ray. But in real life, things are thankfully a lot calmer – and Joshua is settled down with his famous wife Sarah Parks.

Sarah has appeared in Emmerdale on several occasions as barrister and later judge Hilary Browning. Her last appearance came in 2005, when she presided over Jack Sugden’s trial when he was accused of starting the fire that killed Sarah Sugden.

Sarah has also starred in 11 episodes of Coronation Street as various characters, as well as landing roles in Shameless, Scott & Bailey, My Parents Are Aliens and Fat Friends over the years.

Joshua told The Mirror of his wife: “She has played a judge in Emmerdale before.” He admitted he thought Sarah would be the one to land a long-term role in a soap, but said: “In the end, I ended up being on Emmerdale and she is the one who supports me.

“I was only supposed to be in the soap for six months, but I’m now in my eighth year and it’s flown by. I love being in Emmerdale. It’s the best job in the world.”

The pair have been married for more than 30 years, and Joshua credits his wife with helping him lose weight. He dropped from 17 and a half stone to 13 and a half stone with her help, admitting: “My health wasn't too good. And I was tucking into all the wrong meals from Emmerdale catering like lasagne and chips.

“We read a book by Dr Meghan Rossi called Eat More Live Well - and that really helped me lose the weight. I did what it told me - ate more vegetables, more fibre and looked after my gut health.”
