A YouTuber named The Bearded Explorer has racked up millions of views after having an extensive look at an £8 million abandoned mansion rumoured to be linked to Hollywood actor Johnny Depp and former England captain John Terry. The striking property, located in Belbins, Romsey, and spanning 11 acres, began construction in 2004 but was never fully completed or occupied. According to the YouTube star, the 12-bedroom mansion was only ever inhabited when squatters moved in temporarily in 2012.

While working out how to enter the mansion, urban explorer Colin Smith made a chilling discovery: a secret underground escape tunnel, which he decided to walk down in a bid to access the building. Using a torch to show viewers just how long and dark the thick metal tunnel was, he said: “This is mad. This was the escape tunnel from the main mansion. I’ll tell you what, it’s nice and cool in here, it really is.”

As he walked deeper into the tunnel, he came across what he believed was an “escape exit” or “ventilation shaft”.

However, he ran into a dead end after a few minutes, which looked blocked, with Colin explaining: “It looks like it’s been pushed by something on the other side. It’s a shame we can’t get through. You can almost feel a breeze coming through, actually. God, this is so crazy!”

He later found a way into the main house, which was far from finished but included the skeleton of a pool, an underground aquarium, a man-made lake, a cinema, and an underground garage big enough for 10 cars. During the exploration, he even discovered designs of what the house was meant to look like on completion.

However, his visit was soon interrupted as police officers arrived to escort him off the property. Colin told viewers: “Unfortunately, the police have turned up and are escorting us off-site. Just a big shout out to anyone else wanting to come here - don’t because the place is wired to the police and they will turn up, so don’t waste your time, it’s not worth it.”

In the clip, he told the officers that he was in the building for about an hour when the alarms started going off.

His followers were quick to comment on the eerie property, with one claiming: “I live just a stone's throw from this, I pass it every day and always admire the big eagles on the entrance gates!

"Rumours are correct, Johnny Depp supposedly owned it, and talk of our small town was the underground garage! It’s a shame to see it just left to decay!”

Another said: “The cops on this video were a class act, and it was nice to see how politely the whole thing was carried out.” A third added: “Such a beautiful house that was never finished. This is so sad.”
