Emergency services have rushed to an incident in Gateshead, with a police cordon in place across a pathway. There is a significant police presence near Old Durham Road and a woodland area.
Pictures from the scene show a number of police vehicles. Witnesses told ChronicleLive that officers wearing white suits had been seen. Investigations appear to be ongoing, with police officers seen searching the wooded area. Several other officers can be seen standing guard at the cordoned area. North East Ambulance Service said in a statement: "We were called to an incident at the junction of Old Durham Road and Split Crow Road, Gateshead, shortly after 3.45pm on 20 January. We dispatched a clinical team leader and double-crewed ambulance to the scene."
