A (good) few years ago, hearing that nobody wants to hang out with Meghan Markle, the new Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry's wife, would have been quite the shocking statement. Fast-forward to 2026, I didn't even bat an eyelid when I saw reports that people - especially in the showbiz world - are not keen to mingle with her. In a world where people are saving face and making sure that their public perception isn't tarnished, I'm not surprised that some of the bigger names that she was reportedly pals with - like David and Victoria Beckham - have kept their distance.
But it's not just those who are already connected to the royals who are wanting to keep their distance, it's reported that multiple celebrities have decided to slowly let things fizzle out. And after the stunt she and Harry pulled last year with Kris Jenner, I can't really say I blame anyone. No matter what you think of the Kardashian/Jenner clan, Harry and Meghan embarrassed them, and that says a lot.
The Kardashian/Jenners have a lot of sway when it comes to Hollywood celebrities, and they're not known for holding back when it comes to the big feuds, but this one has been far more subtle. After Harry and Meghan gave the green light for photos of them to be shared, which Kim Kardashian herself has stated, they then asked for them to be removed instantly. It was reported to be out of respect for the Royal Family and Remembrance Day, but honestly, it screamed embarrassment. It looked as though they were embarrassed to be photographed at an event for Kris' 70th birthday, and getting them to delete the photos after the fact is nothing short of a disaster.
From that moment, I had a feeling that people would be slowly cutting ties with them, because who knows that their reasoning behind any decisions they make are. Was it because they were embarrassed? Was it a PR stunt? Or was it simply because they were in a room with people who were also very famous and their name-dropping wouldn't bring them any brownie points here.
The Daily Mail has reported that insiders have stated the pair "love famous people" and are "very name-droppy", prompting people to avoid associating with them in case it's simply for Meghan's benefit. But in an unsurprising twist, it's said they don't believe any of their friendships fizzling out is because of something they've done. Shocker.
I wouldn't be surprised if more and more people distance themselves from the royal couple. They've been teetering on the Hollywood/Royal line for a while and they just don't seem to know which way they want to go, so as a result, they've damaged relationships on either side. It's time to buck up their ideas, really.
They're two days away from their wedding anniversary, it's a good time to start thinking about what they want their future to hold, they can't be the inbetween celeb/royal couple forever, because they'll fade into the abyss more than they already have. It's been eight years, six of those years have been running from their royal lifestyle, while also debating if they want to go back. It's crunch time, and they need to make a move before it's too late and nobody wants them.
