According to a Deadline report they have good people on board as it is being written by Bridge of Spies’ screenwriter Matt Charman, as part of Netflix’s first-look deal with the pair following the downgrading of their contract. a war film does sound like it will have more mass appeal than the far from eagerly anticipated “polo-themed” drama series they are executive producing for the streamer. However it is doomed to fail unless they resist their urge to interfere in the process - but this is extremely unlikely.

The fact producers generally aren't household names and get very little publicity or attention as a rule won't appeal to the pair who love being in the limelight despite their demands for privacy.

The Duchess likes to be seen as hands on in everything she is involved in - hence we were treated to her dodgy cooking and crafting in With Love, Meghan. She is not very skilled at either task but insisted on showcasing her "talents".

I very much doubt in this instance she will be able to take a step back and let experts do their jobs given her "extensive" film making experience.

Meanwhile, the subject matter holds a special place in Harry’s heart as he served in the Army for 10 years and was deployed twice to Afghanistan, including a 10-week tour in Helmand province. He ended his Army career in 2015.

He is certain to want to reflect his own experiences on screen because, as we have learnt in recent years, he loves nothing better than making something all about himself and his pain. It actually wouldn't surprise me if he asked Charman to write him in as a character.

On that note I think Meghan will also find it hard to resist trying to cast herself in the film. I haven't read the book, but a quick glace at a synopsis indicates it requires a very male-centric cast. But a detail like that has never stopped Meghan before. She will surely demand an emotional phone call home or some similar contrived scene is written for her.

This sounds like it could be a great film in the hands of someone like Steven Spielberg of Clint Eastwood. However Harry and Meghan have produced nothing but vanity projects to date. This looks unlikely to be an exception and it will suffer for it.
