A soap actor remains under investigation after being accused of child sex offences against five teenage boys 18 months ago. The household name was arrested in October 2024, but has been on bail ever since. According to The Mirror, he has been reinterviewed since then over other claims dating back to the 1990s, when he appeared in major television programmes. Police have now confirmed to the publication that inquiries remain ongoing, but the actor cannot be named for legal reasons. A spokesperson for the force said following the arrest: "A man has been arrested on suspicion of historical child sex offences involving five victims."

They added: "Officers investigating allegations relating to the 1990s detained a man. He was arrested on suspicion of several sexual offences relating to five men who were teenage boys at the time of the alleged offending. He has been conditionally bailed while enquiries continue."

The actor's family, including his partner, are understood to have been left stunned by his arrest, with the soap star also staggered over the allegations.

Guidance suggests suspects can generally be on bail three to nine months before needing to be released or charged with the offence they are suspected of.

The initial bail period can be extended to six months by an inspector and nine months by a superindendent. A further extension would require the approval of a Magistrate's Court.

According to The Mirror, police have been analysing his computers and documents since his arrest.

The actor, who had his computers seized on the day of his arrest, was held for several hours before officers released him on bail.

The five alleged victims are now all adults, and the suspect denies the claims made against him.
