UK weather maps are turning orange as the warm spell is on the cards.

The maps from WXCharts, using MetDesk data, show that 16 regions will be warmer than greece as temperatures climb up the 20s.

On Friday, May 22 much of England, Scotland and Wales will reach above 20C, with spring warmth coming into full force.

The warmest weather will strike the capital city, with London expected to reach 27C just ahead of the weekend.

Elsewhere in the south of England temperatures will also sit comfotably in the mid 20s with, with Hertfordshire, Essex and Suffolk all reaching 25C.

In the north, Cheshire and Manchester are also likely to see some warmth as temperatures will reach 23C.

The North East region of Scotland, Grampian is also forecast to hit 22C according to the maps.

WXCharts have predicted that the hottest region in Greece will reach 25C, so many areas across England will be warmer.

According to the Met Office's long range forecast May is due to become "rather warm".

The forecast for May 17 to 26 states: “As this period progresses, high pressure is likely to begin to build from the south bringing more in the way of settled weather.

“Temperatures likely cooler than average to begin, but tending to recover as the period progresses, perhaps becoming rather warm by the end of the period, especially in the south.”

If temperatures stand between 25C and 28C a heatwave could be declared in the UK. The threshold for a heatwave varies across the nation, with temperatures needing to reach 28C in the south.
