Vernon Kay and Tess Daly have decided to split after 23 years of marriage. The couple tied the knot in 2003 but in a shock statement shared on Friday, the former Strictly Come Dancing presenter and the BBC Radio 2 DJ announced they are calling it quits. New reports have given insight into the couple's sudden split as the couple made an emotional toast together to seal the deal.
Vernon and Tess chose to mark the end of their marriage together — with a glass of champagne, the Mirror reports. The couple pledged to "keep it classy" throughout their separation, and were even seated side by side as they published their joint statement.
During an emotional Friday evening at their family home — where the pair continue to reside together — they raised a glass of champagne and "celebrated the new chapter ahead."
A source close to the couple told the publication: "After they released the statement, Vernon and Tess took a moment to toast each other and their futures.
"They only want the best for each other and their family. There has been no big fallout, more a gradual growing apart and wanting different things. They have vowed to stay friends and to keep things classy when it comes to the split and any future interviews they give. They only want the best for each other."

The pair are said to both be in a positive place despite the heartbreaking news, with their focus firmly set on their daughters and their respective careers.
The couple continue to share their six-bedroom home in Buckinghamshire. In due course, Vernon is considered the more likely of the two to move out, given his need for a London base or somewhere nearby for his BBC Radio 2 presenting commitments.
Insiders highlighted the fact the duo presented The One Show at the end of February as evidence they remained on good terms. There were no visible signs on air of any friction between them. Tess even posted a selfie of them outside Television Studios to Instagram and wrote: "Back where it all began at television Centre. Always brings back such lovely memories."
They also went on a family getaway to the Caribbean just a fortnight before announcing their separation. Despite the united front, the couple confirmed this weekend that their marriage had come to an end.

In a statement shared on their Instagram Stories, Tess and Vernon - who have daughters Phoebe, 21, and Amber, 16 - said: "After much consideration, and with a deep sense of care and respect for one another, we have made the decision to separate amicably.
"This has not been an easy decision, but it comes from a place of mutual understanding and a shared desire for what is best for both of us. We remain great friends and most importantly, fully committed to our roles as loving and supportive parents, which will always be our priority.
"There are no other parties involved in this decision. We kindly ask for privacy during this time as we navigate this transition together. We will not be making any further public comments."

The former Strictly Come Dancing presenter, 57, and the BBC Radio 2 DJ, aged 52, are parents to daughter Phoebe, born in October 2004, and Amber, born in May 2009.
The couple tied the knot in 2003 in Bolton and celebrated their union again by renewing their vows a decade later in 2013. Both former models, the pair went on to forge thriving careers as television presenters.
