Anna Wintour’s infamous Met Gala was held in the centre of New York City on Monday evening as A-listers showcased their custom couture gowns all in the name of charity after securing their $100,000 ticket to the spectacle. While some stars fully embraced the Fashion is Art theme, others completely failed the creative assignment. Here, Express.co.uk has picked out the seven worst-dressed stars at this year’s gala - including a haemorrhoid-like gown and a rather terrifying statue costume.

The Bodak Yellow rapper, who had a fever, skipped the afterparty, leaving everyone speechless with her custom Marc Jacobs gown. The voluminous black lace gown, with giant masses on both shoulders and at the hem, resembled an abstract human figure. However, some fans of the gala felt her dress looked like haemorrhoids. Another person shared: “She looks like she is wearing intestines sewn together.” Someone else asked what her inspiration was, and, according to reports, the look was inspired by Hans Bellmer's The Doll. The artwork featured 10 pictures of his dismembered doll, which he constructed in 1993.

Kim Kardashian hasn’t pulled off an incredible look since 2018’s Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination Met Gala, when she wore a figure-hugging Versace gown embellished with crucifixes and scooped her dark hair into a sleek ponytail. This year, Kim wore a custom orange Allen Jones breastplate, Whitaker Malem skirt and Christian Louboutin shoes. We’ve seen breastplates before, with Zendaya leading the trend back in 2020. Kim’s look pays homage to Jones’ poster for Maîtresse, an explicit 1975 film about a leather-clad dominatrix, and fans were divided online.
