David Fishwick, a Burnley businessman known as the “Bank of Dave”, raised the alarm after spotting a major fire at the Warburtons factory while flying overhead.
He said fire engines had just arrived at the scene and offered immediate assistance, telling Lancashire Police and Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service that his helicopter could airlift up to five people to hospital if needed.
He added that he hoped everyone involved was safe.
