Welsh singer Katherine Jenkins was supported recently as she opened up on the death of her dad. The operatic star took to her Instagram account to share that her dad, Selwyn John Jenkins, had been dead for 30 years in an emotional tribute.
Sharing some sweet throwback snaps of her with her father, Katherine shared that she was just 15 years old when he died. She heartbreakingly penned: "I can’t quite believe it’s been 30 years without you. I only had 15 with you but in that time, you were my whole world. Not a day goes by that I don’t feel your absence in the quiet moments, or think of you in the milestones you should have been part of. Every birthday, every achievement, every chapter… you are there in my heart, even if you’re not by my side."
Katherine continued: "I still carry you with me, in who I am, in what I value, in the love you gave so completely. Missing you always, Dad. Remembering you in everything."
Some of her 145,000 followers were quick to share their condolences and messages of support. One wrote: "Your Dad would be very proud of you Katherine, you have achieved great things that others can only dream about."
Another added: "Your Father will be looking down from heaven with love and pride for you x," while a third said: "Thinking of you today and always Katherine, it never gets easier xx".
"Always with you and in your thoughts, they never really leave you," one more penned.
“I know some people believe in things like this and some people don’t but I’ve had quite vivid dreams where we have talked and because I don’t know him as an adult, and I don’t know in my adult self him, but we have conversations which is so interesting and I am always so fascinated by it.
“Whenever I step out on stage I always without fail have a word with him and ask him to bless my voice and bless my concert so he is always in my thoughts.”
She added: “I wish he could have seen my kids.”
