The former Good Morning Britain presenter has sparked a huge reaction on X after issuing his verdict on King Charles III and Queen Camilla's four-day trip to America. The couple landed in Washington earlier this week and were greeted by President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump. Last night, Charles received a standing ovation for a speech he read to Trump and dignitaries in the White House. As part of his speech, Charles addressed his Christian faith and said: "It is why it is my hope – my prayer - that, in these turbulent times, working together and with our international partners, we can stem the beating of ploughshares into swords."
He also reflected on the importance of the environment, adding: "As we look toward the next 250 years, we must also reflect on our shared responsibility to safeguard Nature, our most precious and irreplaceable asset."
Reminding the audience of the relationship between the UK and US, he shared: "America's words carry weight and meaning, as they have since Independence."
Issuing his response to the lengthy speech, Piers penned in light of his millions of X followers: "King Charles has been a triumph on this US trip. His speeches yesterday were the most brilliant act of much-needed diplomacy that I can remember in a long time.
"He was charming, funny, courageous, and reminded everyone why the Monarchy remains one of Britain’s greatest assets."
Fans flocked to comment, with one penning: Indeed. His Majesty has done an elegant job healing the fractured ‘special relationship’ under UK’s current PM."
A second remarked: "It was a master class, very proud of our King Charles. He truly has risen to the moment and we’re blessed he has arrived with such class. Checks and balances is what the King is all about, politicians come and go, paid for by elites for private agendas."
