Motorists are facing rush-hour mayhem as a stretch of the M25 has been closed clockwise following a lorry fire.
Emergency resurfacing work is under way after the blaze, which broke out near junction 21 – the M1 link – causing significant damage to the tarmac.
As a result, the section of motorway between junction 20, for Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, and junction 21, has been completely shut in the clockwise direction.
The road is not expected to reopen until later today, and in the meantime, drivers are required to exit at junction 21 and follow the diversion through parts of Watford, Hertfordshire, before rejoining the M25 via the A405 at junction 21A for St Albans.
