A branch of a UK electrical wholesaler has entered administration, with a number of staff members made redundant. Administrators were appointed for The Electrical Network (Scarborough) Limited earlier this month, according to a notice published on the official public record website, The Gazette, on Monday.
Administrators at Opus Restructuring and Insolvency said the business was previously put up for sale but received no offers. According to its website, it provides products including lighting, power tools and testing equipment, cables and wiring accessories. An Opus spokesperson told the Express: “Following an initial financial review, The Electrical Network (Scarborough) Limited sought professional advice and steps were taken to market the company for sale as a going concern. Despite initial interest, no offers were received.
“The business was subsequently placed into administration, with Emma Mifsud and Mark Ranson of Opus Restructuring and Insolvency appointed as joint administrators on 7 April 2026.
“As a result of the administration, a number of employees have been made redundant. The joint administrators are working closely with all affected parties to ensure the process is managed as smoothly and fairly as possible.”
The spokesperson added: “Opus is now focused on securing the best possible outcome for the company’s creditors and updates will be provided to stakeholders as the administration progresses.”
The Express contacted The Electrical Network (Scarborough) for comment.
