The 2026 tax list has featured a number of celebrities in the top 100 tax payers, but billionaire brothers Fred and Peter Drone, the owners of Betfred, topped the list overall, with a whopping £400m tax bill. While some famous faces have left the UK for a life of luxury in a different country, there were multiple people who made the list that are now no longer listed as residents in the UK. But which celebrities landed a spot on the list and where did they come?
According to The Times some of those who landed a spot on the list are some of the UK's biggest celebrities, ranging from author JK Rowling, to Harry Styles and Anthony Joshua. But where do they stand and how much have they paid? As the due date for the tax return firmly sets in, we've looked at the celebrities who have paid the biggest bill for the previous tax year.
JK Rowling paid £47.5m
JK Rowling paid a huge tax bill for the 24/25 tax year and she has a large chunk of assets which influence how much she brings home all the time. After building the empire of Harry Potter, she takes home her money in not only book royalties, but film and TV revenues, licensing deals at theme parks, merchandising, stage productions, and then of course her businesses and investments. Outside of Harry Potter, she also brings home money in her additional book royalties, with multiple books behind her.

Harry Styles paid £24.7m
Harry Styles is another celebrity who made it onto the list with a whopping £24.7million tax bill. While he's a famous singer, he doesn't just earn money from his solo music. He brings in income from his albums, One Direction royalties, merchandise, acting gigs, brand partnerships, and of course business ventures and investments. He has an incredibly impressive net worth, and with his tour coming this summer, it's likely that the 26/27 tax year will see an even bigger bill with his name on it.

Ed Sheeran paid £19.9m
While Ed is also a singer who brings in cash from his music career, touring and music sales aren't the only things that leave him with a huge tax bill. Ed is very well known as a songwriter, so he gets royalties from the songs he has written for other artists too, even when it's not his voice on the track, making him passive income. He has his own business ventures and investments on top of that, and then works with brands too. Finally, merchandising and licensing is another big part of his income.

Erling Haaland paid £16.9million
Footballer Erling Haaland paid a bill of £16.9million, high level footballers do often pay big tax bills, but the Manchester City striker is considered one of the highest paid players in the world, with his contract including a high annual salary, and it's likely that performance bonuses are also part of his income. He also has deals with huge global brands as well as advertisements and public appearances. It's likely he has also dabbled in investmenting as well.
