Piers Morgan has met both David and Victoria Beckham, and has made a bombshell statement about the famous family after their eldest son Brooklyn said he has no desire to reconcile with his parents. The TalkTV host, who was confronted on camera by Victoria and has previously spent time with ex-footballer David, branded them “money grabbers”.

In a bombshell rant on his chat show, Piers explained: “I was having to endure this as I lay in a hospital bed on morphine, having fractured my femur. I determined after about an hour of people talking about it, the only thing I could think of that was actually more painful than fracturing the femur and having a replacement hip, was the Beckham family saga.

“My take is this. The Beckhams, the family led by the parents, if David and Victoria could pre-emptively sell their deaths to Netflix for a 10-part series and bring the kids into it, they would.

“They are the single most commercial money grabbers I think I’ve ever seen in the history of celebrity, and that bar is very high. They’ve been utterly shameless – they sold their wedding, they sold their christenings, they sold their baby pictures… and so these kids were brought up into a world where everything was commercialised.”

He continued: “I can imagine that it has inevitably, along with their gigantic fame, that has a corrosive effect on them.

“However, there are lots of kids that grow up to famous parents, including ones that do deals to sell stories to magazines. They don’t all turn out to do what Brooklyn Beckham has done here.

“I just think what he’s done – very similar to Prince Harry – he’s met and fallen in love with an American woman, where they may have a different outlook about this kind of thing, who seems to have wrestled him away from his family over to America and then all hell has broken loose and now we’ve got a complete estrangement. The parallels are obvious.”

In an unearthed documentary titled Victoria’s Secrets, Victoria could be seen confronting Piers when he was the editor of the Mirror.

And Piers himself told The Sun in 2017: “I have only met David once in my life and that was pretty tense. Victoria, I used to know quite well and we got on, but not anymore.”
