Police have found the body of who they believe is a missing student almost one month since he was last seen running down an eerie road.
Leicestershire Police said in a statement on Thursday, December 18, that the body they believe is of Loughborough student Aryan Sharma had been found following a search of a river.
Sharma was last seen on CCTV footage in Meadow Lane, on the outskirts of Loughborough, at around 12.30am on Saturday, November 22. The 20-year-old had left his accommodation at around 9.30pm and was walking towards Stanford-on-the-Soar before he vanished.
Officers from the Tactical Support Team and the National Police Air Service were deployed after a report that a body was seen in the River Soar in Normanton on Soar on the evening of Sunday, December 14.
"Although formal identification is yet to take place, it is believed to be Aryan," Leicestershire Police said.
Specialist officers are continuing to provide support to Sharma's family, who have asked for privacy.
A file will be prepared for HM Coroner, police said.
