Tony Blair is out of the running to serve on a 'board of peace' in Gaza as part of a major post-war plan led by US President Donald Trump.

The decision came from the former UK prime minister due to objections from several Arab and Muslim states, the Financial Times reported.

Trump had named only Blair on his 'board of peace', branding the former Labour leader a "very good man."

But Arab and Muslim leaders have raised concerns about Blair due to his disastrous role in the invasion of Iraq in 2003.

They also warned Palestinians would be marginalised in the new leadership plan.

Blair had been working with Jared Kushner, Trump’s son-in-law to help devise a plan for Gaza after the Israel-Hamas war.

A source told the FT: “He could still have a role in a different capacity, and that seems likely.

"The Americans like him and the Israelis like him.”

Gaza's post-war future remains uncertain as leaders discuss how the Palestinian territory should be run, and how the current Hamas leadership will be disarmed and forced out.
